Chapter 2: Phonics, Word Analysis, and Fluency Understand Development of Phonics, Word Analysis, Spelling, and Fluency Reading fluency—the ability to decode a printed text easily, accurately, expressively, and at an appropriate rate—is essential to reading comprehension. Print the Lesson Plan Template (PDF) as an outline for your lesson plan.
