Mar 21, 2015 · Sensor 1 are your primary O2's (control the closed loop fueling) and Senspr 2 are your secondary O2's which are only used to test the CATS are working. Also, you can turn off all the DTC's and the O2's will still work, you just wont know when the various diagnostics fail to alert you of a problem.

Jun 26, 2011 · The computer uses the change in the O2 sensor readings to detect operation of the Thermactor control valves. When the dump valve opens, it reduces the O2 readings in the exhaust system. Then it closes the dump valve and the O2 readings increase. By toggling the dump valve (TAB), the computer tests for the 44/94 codes. Sep 06, 2019 · As your vehicle's oxygen sensors are seldom removed, they will probably be firmly stuck in place. To loosen them, spray the sensors with a lubricant like WD-40 and let them sit for 10–15 minutes. The WD-40 will lubricate and loosen the sensors, making them easier to remove.

I won't be able to pull the radiator side cat off until I buy an O2 sensor socket, but I'm thinking Inshould go ahead and pull it off to check its condition, in case that is actually bank 1. Also, the downstream side O2 sensor for the radiator side cat has a lot more carbon type buildup on it than the downstream side sensor for the firewall cat.

Mar 20, 2010 · The upstream O2 sensor is critical for the engine to run right. The downstream sensor only monitors catalyst function and will throw a code if missing but it won't affect driveability. The upstream one has to be there.
Mar 16, 2017 · You can test the sensors on the computer. Use pin 29 (left O2) or pin 43 (right O2) and the ground next to the computer ground. The individual O2 sensor should read between 0.20 to 0.90v at idle. The computer will throw codes 41 and/or 91 for possible O2 sensor failures. You typically want to change these sensors every 60,000 miles. The second sensor is only accessible by crawling underneath the vehicle. Lifting a car is dangerous, so make sure it is stable before looking for the Use the delete feature on an OBD code scanner to reset the light. The ecu checks the switching of the downstream sensor and compares it to the upstream sensor. If the downstream sensor switches as often as the upstream sensor (as it would if there were no cat between the two sensors), the ecu assumes the catalyst has failed. What the ecu expects to see is a fairly steady .6-.8 volts from the downstream sensor.

However, the previous owner removed the O2 sensors from the exhaust pipes, leaving two holes in pipes where the O2 sensors used to be. I don't understand why people delete the O2 sensor. Now the unit can't self-adjust or self-tune for the most optimized map.The sensor is intended for measuring gaseous, not aqueous, O2 concentrations. Note: Vernier products are designed for educational use. Even though the sensor responds rather quickly to changes in O2 concentration, the gas has to diffuse into the electrochemical cell located at the top of...

Sep 16, 2019 · locate the source of the problem, possibly remove the oxygen sensor from the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe ahead of the catalytic converter to see if that changes things, and replace the catalytic converter, if necessary.

One upstream Oxygen sensor, and one downstream Oxygen sensor. The upstream oxygen sensor is mounted in the exhaust before the catalytic converter, and the downstream one is mounted in the exhaust after the catalytic converter. There is some great info on how to check and replace the Oxygen Sensor right here. Hope this helps, good luck. Dec 08, 2014 · Step 4: After disconnecting the wiring harness, remove the oxygen sensor. Depending on which engine in your Tundra, you can either use a ratchet and an oxygen sensor socket to simply unthread the oxygen sensor from the exhaust bung, or use a box-end wrench to remove the mounting nuts and remove it from the exhaust.
