My LS1 sounds like that and I've put almost 100k miles on it. It also has lifter tick and once it even sounded like a pushrod was collapsed. Changed the oil and the pushrod stopped making noise, perfectly clean oil, never any loss of power. Never figured out what that was. Since the cam turns at half speed of the crank, and I counted roughly 300 clicks per minute (which is 600 RPM crank speed), my guess is that's definitely a cam/lifter noise. With my FJ, the valvetrain became noisy if I followed the TSB procedure and used a xW-20. In order to adjust the valvetrain on the Prius you have to measure lifter clearance, remove the camgears, measure the lifter bucket and decide which ones to install to tighten the clearances.
The noise really needs investigating though as depending on how noisy it is and what is actually causing it would better determine if further action was needed. We can try and take a guess to advise you here but at the end of the day if this noise is due to something more serious then just a noisy...

Many engines will tick a bit on start up and it's mainly due to oil pressure at start up as well as lifter condition. If you happen to be running an oil that is on "the thin" side, then it may be draining back to the sump over night leaving the lifters empty. They will then "tick" a bit until all the air has bled out and they are full of oil again.

Nov 02, 2015 · I have what sounds like a lifter ticking in my daughters 05 Equinox with 120k miles. It is silent when you do a cold startup, but makes noise as the oil warms up. I can't hear it from inside the car, but can hear it outside as the car is idling. I thought about trying a thicker oil (running 5w30 castrol right now) to see if that would quiet it up. Lifter noise after sitting overnight with 1992-1995 Vin W engines until the lifters fill with oil is a common problem. The solution would be to adjust the lifter pre load to .080" (2-turns) instead of the .040" (1-turn) specified by the factory.
